Kinesiology – A Natural Way to Help Your Body Heal

At All Abilities Pilates, I have trained with TASK – The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology and am continuing my studies to a higher practitioner level. Kinesiology has truly fascinated me—how the body can communicate exactly what it needs without the use of big pharmaceutical drugs. Through my own journey, kinesiology has helped me to understand myself, manage pain, and appreciate how clever and beautiful our bodies really are.

Systematic Kinesiology, as taught by TASK, is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that uses muscle monitoring (muscle testing) to identify imbalances in the body. These imbalances may be physical, nutritional, emotional, or energetic. Once identified, gentle, targeted techniques are used to support the body back into balance so it can heal and function at its best.

A Brief History of Kinesiology & TASK

Modern kinesiology was developed in the 1960s by American chiropractor Dr George Goodheart, who discovered a connection between muscle strength and internal health. This became known as Applied Kinesiology, which combines muscle testing with knowledge from chiropractic care, nutrition, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

TASK – The Academy of Systematic Kinesiology is one of the UK’s leading training schools in this method. It teaches a whole-person approach based on the Triad of Health:

By addressing all three areas, kinesiology supports lasting improvements rather than just temporary relief.

What Kinesiology Can Support

Systematic Kinesiology can help with a wide range of concerns, including:

Meridians & Energy Flow

Systematic Kinesiology incorporates the Traditional Chinese Medicine concept of meridians—energy pathways that run through the body, each connected to specific muscles, organs, and emotions.

If a meridian’s energy flow becomes blocked or imbalanced, it can affect physical function, emotional wellbeing, and vitality.

Gentle muscle testing can identify which meridians need support, and techniques such as acupressure, light touch, or movement are used to restore balance.

Lymphatic Drainage & Muscle Rubbing

A kinesiology session may also include light rubbing of specific muscle points. This stimulates the lymphatic system, encouraging drainage of toxins, reducing inflammation, and improving circulation.

This is not a deep tissue massage—it’s a precise, gentle technique that many clients find both relaxing and energising.

You remain fully clothed and comfortable throughout. I use gentle muscle testing to assess how your body responds, and may introduce light touch, acupressure, or natural supplements for testing (not ingestion).

No. Supplements are only used for testing purposes to see how your body responds—they are never ingested during the session.

No. Kinesiology is gentle, safe, and non-invasive. Most people find it deeply relaxing and often feel lighter afterwards.

It depends on your individual needs. Some people notice improvements after just one session, while others benefit from a series for deeper, longer-term results.

Kinesiology works with the body as a whole, so it can support a wide range of concerns—physical, emotional, and nutritional. If you’re unsure, I’m happy to discuss your situation before you book.
